Where State Standards Meet Spaces Kids Actually Love
This 28,000-square-foot daycare facility at the NYS Office of General Services Harriman Campus in Albany was renovated to serve 212 children in the primary daycare program and 100 in the after-school program. The project required more than a refresh. It called for a full transformation of the space into a purpose-built environment designed around the needs of infants, toddlers, preschool, and pre-K children.
The renovation encompassed multiple critical updates, including replacing the roof over the existing double barrel vaulted concrete deck, installing new exterior windows, removing hazardous materials, and completely renovating the first floor. The redesigned space features age-specific classrooms, a multi-purpose room, and dedicated staff areas.
Built Around Compliance and Collaboration
Our firm provided comprehensive architectural services and worked in close collaboration with the NYS Governor’s Office of Employee Relations to ensure all programming needs were met. We also coordinated with the NYS Office of Children and Family Services to maintain full compliance with licensing requirements throughout the design process. The result is a facility that meets every standard on paper and delivers a space where kids and staff can thrive every day.
