Reimagining Campus Dining and Student Space
At American International College, the goal was to do more than update a dining facility. The project set out to create a space that brings students together, supports daily campus life, and encourages interaction beyond the classroom.
The 34,000-square-foot transformation reshaped how the building functions across two levels. By converting a former entrance into expanded seating and introducing a new central atrium, the design creates a more open, connected environment that invites students to gather, study, and spend time throughout the day.
Creating a Central Hub for Campus Life
The new atrium serves as both a visual centerpiece and an organizing element, improving circulation and connecting key spaces within the building. Upgrades include ADA-compliant vertical access, modern restrooms, and student storage, all designed to support accessibility and convenience.
One of the most impactful changes is the repositioning of The Stinger, the lower-level student lounge and bar. Previously tucked away, it now benefits from increased visibility and easier access, helping it become a more active and integrated part of campus life.
By aligning architecture with how students use the space, the project transforms a once-utilitarian facility into a welcoming hub that strengthens connection, enhances daily experience, and supports a more engaged campus community.
